This thing was wonderful to watch and listen to. It's an Allan Brothers oil engine built around 1903 in Aberdeen, Scotland and was used to power English shipbuilding equipment during World War I. It has a 9-1/2 inch bore, a 17 inch stroke, produces 19 horsepower at 230 rpm, and weighs a dainty 3 tons. It now belongs to brothers Wayne & Brennen Peters. I slowed my shutter speed down a bit to catch some blur on those 54 inch flywheels. The large black rectangular box is just a sun canopy that they hadn't set up yet.

whilst this family farmed their field, the children were dancing behind the tractor which was playing very loud bollywood music, and the sun was reflecting off the tinsel decorations hanging from the driver's canopy. india, november 2007.
